Mark’s passion for photography started at an early age, although it was only in his twenties that he considered pursuing his hobby as a career. Since then, his talent, professionalism and dedication has seen him rapidly become established as leading name in photography across a range of contexts.

Early recognition of Mark’s skills and eye for a picture came from the Ordnance Survey who, in 2015, selected one of his images for the updated covers of their maps for Blairgowrie & Rattray.

In the same year, Mark began connecting photography with another of his lifelong passions, football, covering matches for the Scottish Photography Network Agency (SPN).

Such recognition gave Mark a taste for further training, leading to his decision to enrol on the Professional Photography HND course in 2017, graduating in 2019.

During these years, Mark not only had an image selected for the final of the AOP Student Awards, but also won a Bronze Award in Photojournalism for a Sport Image in the BIPP Student Awards 2019.

After graduating, Mark was snapped up by the SNS Group, initially splitting his time between his camera and the company’s picture desk. This was quickly followed by a move to full-time photography for SNS in January 2020.

Of course, 2020 is a year that will live long in the memory, and the restrictions on sporting events in Scotland allowed Mark to cover other major events such as Black Lives Matters, Protect the Statues and Lockdown protests. His work throughout the pandemic has appeared, in both digital and print publications, on a daily basis, including three front pages of national newspapers in one week.

Upon the resumption of the sporting calendar, Mark has found himself regularly covering football at all levels, from international fixtures and Champions League ties to SPFL Championship and Betfred Cup games, in addition to being a regular presence at press conferences.

Further afield, Mark’s work has been featured in prestigious publications such as the New York Times and the Times of India.

In addition to the regular sports work, Mark has also undertaken PR work for a diverse portfolio of clients including Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Life, Network Rail, Ladbrokes, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, The Ramblers Association, Paths for All, the Scottish Football Association, the Scottish Rugby Union, Hibernian FC, PMPR Excellence, Panini and the SPFL.

When he’s not on the road for the work described above, Mark can often be found, camera kit in hand, photographing the inspiring Scottish landscapes that played a major role in his decision to pursue a career in photography in the first place.
